Meet the Founder – Suman Bahadur Basnet: Nepal’s Ethical Hacking Pioneer
In the world of cybersecurity and ethical hacking, few names stand out like Suman Bahadur Basnet. A Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) and cybersecurity expert, he founded SBComputer in 2017 to revolutionize Ethical Hacking Nepal. His journey is not just about hacking—it’s about securing the digital world, training the next generation, and working with Nepal’s top agencies to fight cybercrime.
The Ethical Hacker Who Trained Nepal Police & Built Cyber Defenses
In 2018, Basnet was invited to the Nepal Police Academy by DIG Bikash Shrestha to train IT Engineers in Computer Hacking Forensics Investigation. This was a crucial time as Nepal was preparing to launch its Cyber Bureau in 2019, requiring real-world expertise in ethical hacking. Basnet’s certification in ethical hacking and hands-on experience made him the go-to expert for training officers to combat cyber threats. On September 30, 2019, the Cyber Bureau was officially inaugurated in Bhotahity, Kathmandu, by DIG Sarbendra Khanal, marking a new era in Nepal’s cybersecurity.
Cracking Nepal’s Biggest ATM Hacking Case
That same year, Nepal faced one of its most high-profile cyber heists—a group of five Chinese hackers infiltrated Nabil Bank’s ATM network in Durbar Marg, stealing millions using forged VISA debit cards. When Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) struggled to understand the breach, they turned to Suman Bahadur Basnet, Nepal’s own ethical hacker. He conducted a forensic analysis, uncovered the hacking techniques, and exposed vulnerabilities that led to the attack. This was a historic moment, as it was the first time Nepal’s government relied on a local cybersecurity expert, instead of outsourcing the investigation to countries like Singapore.
Hacking the Unhackable – Breaking 2FA in Nepal’s E-Wallets
By 2021, Basnet’s reputation as an elite ethical hacker reached new heights. While working with various Nepali fintech companies and banks, he exposed critical security flaws. At Sajilo Pay, he managed to bypass their secured Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and exploit their internal network, revealing publicly misconfigured systems. Even top Indian cybersecurity experts were shocked by his advanced hacking techniques, proving that Nepal’s cybersecurity talent is world-class.
He also demonstrated that even the most secure cryptographic algorithms could be cracked, proving the importance of ethical hacking in IT security. His findings emphasized that no system is 100% secure, and only through continuous penetration testing and security research can companies stay ahead of cyber threats.
Empowering the Next Generation of Ethical Hackers
Despite his success in hacking, securing, and investigating major cybercrimes, Basnet’s true passion lies in teaching and mentoring students. He believes:
“Students can only become professionals when they are trained by experts who have real-world experience. Industrial-level training is what builds confidence, skill, and independence in the IT industry.”
At SBComputer, Basnet and his team of elite hackers provide hands-on training to students, transforming them into job-ready cybersecurity experts. His goal? To make Nepal a global powerhouse in ethical hacking and cybersecurity.
The Ethical Hacker Who Redefines Cybersecurity
From penetration testing for banks to forensic investigations for law enforcement, Suman Bahadur Basnet has worked with Nepal’s top financial institutions, fintech startups, and enterprises. He has earned a reputation for unauthorized access testing, proving that security is only as strong as its weakest link.
